Meet the engineer behind every LAUX valve

Mr. Liu — Founder & Chief Engineer
“A reliable valve is built not only with quality materials, but with responsibility, precision, and a commitment to every customer”.When Laux Valve was founded in 2011, our vision was simple: to manufacture butterfly valves that customers could rely on with complete confidence. We believe that every valve is more than a product—it is a critical component that ensures the safety and efficiency of industrial pipeline systems. By combining precision engineering, strict quality control, and responsive customer support, we strive to deliver dependable butterfly valve solutions that create lasting value for customers around the world.
Find answers to the most common questions about butterfly valves, product selection, international standards, OEM manufacturing, quality control, and global delivery.

What is a butterfly valve?

A butterfly valve is a quarter-turn valve used to start, stop, or regulate fluid flow in pipeline systems. It features a rotating disc mounted on a central shaft, providing compact design, lightweight construction, and low operating torque. Butterfly valves are widely used in water treatment, HVAC, chemical processing, municipal water supply, marine, and industrial applications.

What types of butterfly valves does Laux Valve manufacture?

Laux Valve manufactures a complete range of butterfly valves, including Wafer Butterfly Valves, Lug Butterfly Valves, Double Flange Butterfly Valves, U-Section Butterfly Valves, PTFE Lined Butterfly Valves, Grooved End Butterfly Valves, and Double Eccentric Butterfly Valves. Manual, pneumatic, and electric actuated options are available for different industrial applications.

What is the difference between wafer and lug butterfly valves?

A wafer butterfly valve is installed between two flanges using through bolts, making it lightweight and economical. A lug butterfly valve features threaded lugs that allow one side of the pipeline to be disconnected without disturbing the opposite side, making it suitable for dead-end service and maintenance.

Which international standards do your butterfly valves comply with?

Our butterfly valves are manufactured according to internationally recognized standards, including EN 593, API 609, AWWA C504, ISO 5752, ISO 5211, BS 5155, EN 1092-1, API 598, and EN 12266-1. Customized standards can also be provided based on project requirements.

What materials are available for butterfly valves?

We offer ductile iron, cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, bronze, and aluminum bronze for valve bodies and discs. Seat materials include EPDM, NBR, FKM (Viton), PTFE, and Silicone to suit different temperatures and media.

What industries use butterfly valves?

Our butterfly valves are widely used in municipal water supply, wastewater treatment, HVAC systems, chemical processing, petrochemical plants, marine engineering, mining, power generation, food processing, fire protection, and general industrial pipeline systems.

How do I choose the right butterfly valve?

The correct butterfly valve depends on the application, working pressure, temperature, pipeline standard, media, and operating method. Our engineering team can recommend the most suitable valve configuration based on your project specifications.

What pressure ratings are available?

Laux Valve manufactures butterfly valves with pressure ratings including PN10, PN16, ANSI Class 150, and AWWA C504. Higher-pressure or customized solutions are available upon request.

What sizes are available?

Standard sizes range from DN40 to DN2400 (1½"–96"). Larger sizes and customized dimensions can be manufactured according to customer requirements.

Do you provide OEM and ODM services?

Yes. We offer complete OEM and ODM manufacturing, including customized materials, dimensions, coatings, actuator assembly, logo casting, packaging, labeling, and technical documentation.

Are your butterfly valves 100% pressure tested?

Yes. Every butterfly valve is hydrostatically pressure tested before shipment according to API 598 and EN 12266-1 to ensure shell strength and reliable sealing performance.

What quality inspections are performed?

Each valve undergoes raw material inspection, machining inspection, dimensional inspection, coating inspection, hydrostatic pressure testing, seat leakage testing, functional inspection, and final packing inspection before delivery.

What seat materials should I choose?

EPDM is recommended for water applications, NBR is suitable for oil and gas, FKM (Viton) performs well at higher temperatures and with chemicals, while PTFE is ideal for highly corrosive media. Our engineers can help you select the most appropriate seat material.

Can butterfly valves be used for throttling?

Yes. Butterfly valves can regulate flow in many applications. However, for continuous throttling service, proper valve sizing and disc position should be considered to ensure stable performance and minimize wear.

What actuator options are available?

Laux Valve provides manual lever handles, worm gear operators, pneumatic actuators, electric actuators, and customized automation solutions for various operating conditions.

Which butterfly valve is suitable for corrosive media?

For corrosive applications, PTFE Lined Butterfly Valves or stainless steel butterfly valves are recommended. Material selection depends on the specific chemical, temperature, pressure, and operating environment.

Can you provide third-party inspection?

Yes. Third-party inspections can be arranged through internationally recognized organizations such as SGS, TÜV, Bureau Veritas (BV), and Intertek according to customer requirements.

What certificates can you provide?

We can provide ISO 9001 certification, CE certification, material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1), pressure test reports, inspection reports, and other documentation required for international projects.

What is your typical delivery time?

Standard products are typically delivered within 15–30 days, depending on valve type, size, quantity, and production schedule. Customized OEM orders may require additional manufacturing time.

How can I request a quotation?

Simply send us your valve type, size, pressure rating, material requirements, quantity, application, and preferred standards. Our sales and engineering team will provide a detailed quotation and technical recommendation as quickly as possible.
